Once Evsars was established in NZ due to a move from the USA, Saracen was my first chow to be introduced to the kennels in starting up again. Saracen at 7 years of age with his breeder Eileen Hallett "Su-Sar Kennels" in contacting me regarding him needing a new home. I was uncertain with a dog of his age in re-adjusting to a new owner. Once we met he bonded to me as if I had owned him ever since he was a puppy. I could not say no!
Eileen had always felt he had good qualities and thought he would do good in the show ring as a show dog. Once receiving him, off to the dog shows we went. He had lived in a pet home prior too being introduced to me. Eileen was right! Saracen was a natural at the dog shows with no prior training at all. He was that X factor dog that was born to show! Above you can see from some of his winning acheivements in the show ring from age 7 to 13 years. Even Rodney Oldham from "Towmena's UK kennel"with judging Saracen in 1993 was shocked when hearing how old he was after placing him Reserve Best In Show.
Health, soundness, true confirmation and excellent temperament. Saracen was a true credit to the breed. My thoughts in progeny from him was next in wishing so to add to my kennel. His breeder agreed too.
Saracen then became the start of my foundation dogs with the opportunity of using him at stud to Ch Chinju Barbie Doll at "GebarKennels". With this mating, "Sasha of Gebar" his daughter was born and next to add to "Evsars" with her being my first foundation bitch. More about Sasha on here page.
Thank you Eileen for the joy Saracen had given me over the years. He will always be remembered as that truley special dog he was to you & I . |
